CLIPPR

Privacy Policy

Last updated May 31, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what CLIPPR collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the CLIPPR website, dashboard, editor, and browser extension (the "Service").

Note: this is a thorough template, not legal advice. Have counsel review it against GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and the laws of your jurisdiction before relying on it.

1. The short version

  • We capture clips on your device and sync only metadata — your Twitch/Kick password and session tokens never reach our servers.
  • We collect what we need to run your account, library, editor, and billing.
  • We don't sell your personal information.
  • You can disconnect platforms, delete content, and request deletion of your account.

2. Information we collect

Account & profile

When you sign in with Twitch or Kick (OAuth), we receive basic profile information from that platform: your email, display name, avatar, and platform handle/ID. We store these to create and identify your account.

Clip metadata

When you capture a clip, the extension sends us metadata only — the clip URL, thumbnail, title, streamer, platform, duration, and a capture timestamp. We use it to build your searchable library.

Projects, edits & uploads

The editor stores your projects (crop, trim, captions, overlays, export settings) and any media you upload (video, image, audio, fonts). If you use auto-captions, we process the clip's audio to generate a transcript.

Usage & entitlements

We track plan-related counters needed to enforce limits — e.g. monthly auto-caption runs, stored bytes, and purchased credit balances.

Billing

Payments are handled by Stripe. We store Stripe identifiers (customer ID, subscription ID, status, renewal date) and your plan/add-on state. We never see or store your full card number — Stripe processes card data directly.

Technical data

Like most web apps, our hosting and infrastructure providers process basic technical data (IP address, browser type, timestamps) to deliver and secure the Service.

3. What we deliberately do NOT collect

  • Your Twitch or Kick password.
  • Your platform session tokens, cookies, or credentials — the extension strips these on-device and never transmits them to us.
  • Card numbers (handled solely by Stripe).

4. How we use information

  • To provide and maintain your account, library, editor, and exports;
  • to generate auto-captions and render clips you choose to export;
  • to process payments and enforce plan limits and entitlements;
  • to secure the Service, prevent abuse, and debug issues;
  • to send service and (if you opt in) product communications.

5. Service providers (subprocessors)

We share data with vendors strictly to operate the Service, each processing only what its function requires:

  • Supabase — authentication and database.
  • Cloudflare R2 — storage of media, uploads, and exports.
  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription management.
  • Transcription providers (e.g. Groq, OpenAI, Deepgram, AssemblyAI) — only the audio needed to generate captions, when you use auto-captions.
  • Stock-media providers — only your search queries when you browse stock content in the editor.

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete clips, projects, or uploads, we remove them from your library and storage. When you close your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records (e.g. billing records) to meet legal obligations.

7. Security

Every account's data is isolated at the database level (row-level security scoped to your user), media is stored in access-controlled cloud storage, and platform credentials never reach our servers by design. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

8. Your rights & choices

  • Disconnect Twitch or Kick at any time from Connections.
  • Delete individual clips, projects, and uploads from your library.
  • Update your profile and email preferences in Settings.
  • Request access, correction, export, or deletion of your personal data (GDPR/CCPA rights where applicable) by contacting us.
  • Opt out of product emails while still receiving essential service notices.

9. Cookies

We use cookies and similar storage strictly to keep you signed in and to run the Service (e.g. session and sidebar-state cookies). We do not use them for cross-site advertising.

10. International transfers

Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

11. Children

CLIPPR is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect their data; if you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be communicated in the app or by email, and the "last updated" date above will change.
